منذ بداية التاريخ لم تكن مدينة اسطنبول في تركيا مدينة عادية. وفي يومنا هذا، تعد اسطنبول أحد أفضل الوجهات السياحية للسياح من مختلف أنحاء العالم وفقا لشبكة CNN، فتجدها ترضي عشاق التاريخ والعراقة، والأشخاص الذين لديهم شغف بالحداثة والعصرية، وعشاق الطبيعة الخلابة.

يعتبر جامع السلطان أحمد من أشهر المساجد التي بنيت على طراز المهندس المعماري المشهور سنان. ويعود بناء هذا المسجد إلى القرن السابع عشر.
 
بنى البيزنطيون كاتدرائية “آيا صوفيا” في القرن السادس ميلادي، وعندما فتح العثمانيون المسلمون اسطنبول حولوا الكاتدرائية إلى مسجد. وأصبحت آيا صوفيا متحفاً منذ القرن العشرين.

كان قصر “توب كابي،” الذي يعود للقرن الخامس عشر، مركز حكم السلاطين العثمانيين لأربعة عقود. ويطل هذا القصر الرائع على مضيق البوسفور ويضم الكثير من الحدائق والأجنحة التي تعكس نمط الحياة العثماني.

البازار الكبير هو سوق شعبي تاريخي ضخم له 11 بوابة، وتضم محلاته المتنوعة الملابس والأقمشة والتحف والطعام والإكسسوارات وغيرها. وينقسم السوق إلى أقسام بحسب البضائع، ما يسهل عملية التسوق على الزائر.

جامع سليمان القانوني أو السليمانية هو أحد أبرز الجوامع في اسطنبول وبني في عهد السلطان سليمان القانوي في القرن السادس عشر. ويتمييز بقبته التي يصل ارتفاعها إلى 53 متراً.

يعرف بازار البهارات بين الأتراك باسم “بازار مصر”، لأن الحكومة العثمانية بنته من عائداتت الضرائب التي فرضتها على الواردات المصرية. ويعتبر من أهم الوجهات السياحية في اسطنبول.

يبدو الأثر الأوروبي الغربي جليّاً عند زيارة قصر دولما باشي، الذي بني خلال العام 1854. واستبدل هذا القصر الفاخر “قصر توب كابي” كمسكن السلاطيين العثمانيين، ولازال يحتفظ بأثاثه النفيس وحالته التي شهده عليها آخر سلطان عثماني.

شارع استقلال وساحة تقسيم هما من بين أشهر الوجهات السياحية في القسم الغربي في اسطنبول، ويوجد العديد من المباني الأثرية على طرفي شارع استقلال بالإضافة إلى المحلات التجارية. ويزور هذا الشارع ثلاثة ملايين زائر يومياً. ويمر في شارع الاستقلال قطار نقل يعود إلى الزمن العثماني.

يفصل مضيق البوسفور بين قارتي آسيا وأوروبا، وتتزين ضفتيه بمعالم تاريخية وعمرانية تستحق المشاهدة. وأفضل طريقة للاستمتاع بجمال أوروبا وآسيا في آن، تتمثل بركوب رحلة القارب على طول مضيق البوسفور.

برج غالاتا هو أعلى برج في منطقة غالاتا التاريخية في اسطنبول، ويعتبر منظر أفق اسطنبول من أعلى هذا البرج، الأجمل في تركيا.

حتى تعيش التجربة العثمانية بشكل كامل، لا بد من زيارة إحدى حمامات السوق الأثرية وعيش تقاليد حمام السوق، الذي ميّز مدن الإمبراطورية العثمانية.
